Fire is Hot

Last night we were sitting out on the deck.  My dad lit our fireplace.  Wow.  I had never seen fire before.  It is bright orange and yellow.  I was very curious about it.

My mom wanted to keep me a safe distance away.  But my dad thought it would be good for me to experience it so I can learn it’s hot and keep myself away.

So I just got close once and I felt the heat on my nose, my whiskers, and my eyes.  I gave a big sniff!  And I didn’t try to get close again.

Fire is really hot.  Have you seen a fire?  Try to look at it and enjoy it, but don’t get too close.  You might burn yourself.

I wish you some happy campfires this summer.  Sing and roast marshmallows!
