Last night a storm was coming in. Can you see the dark rain cloud moving in?
Here I am out on the porch in the rain. Then some flashes of light happened, that’s called lightning. You wait a bit and you hear loud crackling noises in the sky. That’s called thunder. I was a little bit scared because I didn’t really understand what was happening. My parents comforted me and told me everything would be OK.
How far was this storm last night? Can you count it for me?
I like the thunder! We counted to three Mississippi. I'm scared to thunder. - Spencer
ReplyDeleteLast time there was thunder at our baseball game and it was loud. There wasn't any lightning and they didn't call off the game. - Lincoln
I want to tell Grammy the thunder! It was bedtime outside! I am scared of thunder. - Eloise
Spencer, that's about how long we counted also. So we think the lightning was about a half mile away. Thunder can be scary so we all huddle close inside.
ReplyDeleteLincoln, I'm glad they didn't call off the game. Those games are pretty important! I wish I could watch one.
Eloise, Mom and Dad will give you a hug when it thunders and then you won't be as scared.
We have a lot of thunder here. Last week, we all had to sit in a closet under the stairs for a half hour because there was a tornado warning really close to our house. It was hard for kids to sit still and be quiet. :)
ReplyDeleteKids! That was a long time together in a closet. But I'm so glad you're safe and a tornado did not come to your house. What did you whisper about or do in the closet while you waited? Did you tell stories and jokes? You kept each other safe.
